Like most high street cleansers this was nothing to write home about.
I’m finding it really hard to find a cleanser that I like, all I need is for it to take off my make-up before I use a facewash but like this one that all seem to do a hit & miss job. I use the fantastic Eve Taylor rubbery face brush when applying and that does certainly make a difference but if the product is lacklustre that’s that.
Do I need to say I won’t buy this again?
Normally I would buy a 75ml tube of handcream from Superdrug, a Vaseline or own brand one for a couple of pounds and then not use it very much, so on volume alone this is a good deal. I bought mine on a recommendation from a friend and I love it.
The only thing that worries me about this handcream is being able to get hold of more of it in the future. The stock at TK Maxx is very random and marvellous for it but I know I will want more of this when the time comes.
The smell is absolutely divine, it’s a realistic rather than synthetic smell and you can smell it on your skin for quite a while after you’ve put it on. It is floral, but not sickly or ‘old lady’. On top of all that this stuff actually works. I’ve noticed now that I’m in my 40’s my hands do get dry and in the winter especially they can get very dry and even cracked in the webby bit between my fingers. Where I used to be rather slap dash about putting on hand cream after washing my hands now I do it every single time.
I find the cheapo versions do very little at all, I did use the Clarins one for a while and that does work well but the smell isn’t that great. With this one the only down side is the size, it’s a huge tube so you can’t carry it around in your handbag.
I would say you will see a benefit to the appearance of your hands from the very first time you use this. Keep going with it and your hands will be softer, look younger and be more smooth within a month.
I do an awful lot of knitting, crochet and sewing which makes my fingers very dry, what I try to remember to do now is to slather on a generous amount of this before I start knitting to stop the yarn from drying out my fingers too much, obviously let it sink in properly before you start working if you want to do this but I haven’t noticed and transference of product onto my knitting or sewing.
This is actually one of the best eye make-up removers I’ve ever used. It literally melts the make-up off without any rubbing. You don’t need to use tons of it, I found one cotton pad for each eye was enough. It made short work of both my Mally and Eyeko mascara which is a bit of a feat in itself.
Its a Garnier one so its nice and cheap too.
I bought this as part of a set from QVC, there was only 50mls of the toner but a full size of the cleanser so I was a bit worried that this wouldn’t last five minutes but I’m very happy to say it lasted for ages, at least a couple of months because with this toner a little goes a long way.
I found I only needed to use about 3-4 drops on a cotton wool pad to do my whole face and my neck. The lavender scent is quite strong, which I like because it smells nice and fresh, but if you think of it as an old lady smell don’t worry, the smell does not linger on your skin.
I really go to town cleansing my face, I do subscribe to the ‘spend as much time taking your makeup off as you spend putting it on’ view so I wonder sometimes if I need to bother with a toner at all. After using this the need for toner is obvious, it finds little bits of cleanser that I’ve missed and sometimes I’d even see my yellow-toned Bare Minerals primer on the pad! Despite it being hard working it does not tighten your skin up too much or leave it feeling dry, just ‘finished’.
Its good stuff, now I’ve used it up I’m going to miss it. I’m waiting for a full size to come up on offer on QVC to replace it.
This is by far and away the best face wash I have ever used. Yes it is quite strong but it makes a big difference to your skin from the very first time you use it. I do suffer from enlarged pores on and around my nose and this kicked those dirty scrubbers into next week. Course now I’ve stopped using it my skin has gone back to being a bit useless so I’m looking forward to buying this again.
I’m sure my moisturiser, primer and make up worked better after washing my face with this too.
This came as part of a gift set I snaffled when I bought some Eye Contour Balm and that disappointing foundation that I’ve forgotten the name of. I do
love a bonus gift. It’s a very effective way of making me buy things I neither want or need. Mind you this version came in a decent size toiletry bag too, I’m using that in the bathroom at the moment and will probably use it for my holiday bag too when the time comes. And that time cannot come quickly enough.
Back to the handcream, its a decent size for a freebie at 30ml and it lasted for ages, I was using it as my office handcream and sometimes as my handbag one too so it got a fair bit of usage. A little goes a long way.
The texture is nice, it’s a fairly firm cream so not runny or oily. It sinks into your skin nice and quickly so your hands are not left feeling gloopy and it does what it promises too.
Where I sew and knit quite a lot I do get dry patches on my fingers and this really did make my hands softer, you instantly notice the difference on the back of your hands too, it makes them look lovely and smooth, I think the slightly beige tone to the cream does something to even colouration too. I don’t think I imagined that.
I’m only giving it an 8/10 though, even though it’s an excellent hand and nail cream the smell is chemical rather than organic and I like my hand cream to smell nice. Its quite a big thing for me, it makes it a treat. I really didn’t like the smell of this one so while I’d buy it again at the drop of a hat if it smelt of vanilla there’s not really much chance that I will be using again unless I get it in another bonus gift set one day.
This was a bit of an impulse buy, I don’t often get over to Asda, it’s in the next town along and goodness knows Fleet is swimming in supermarkets. I can’t remember the exact price but I’m sure it was under two pounds so I wasn’t expecting a lot.
Well how wrong can you be? Turns out this is the best cleanser I’ve used so far. It has just the right consistency, not too thick and gloopy but not so thin that you can’t massage it in like a face cream. It lasts a good long while too. I’m holding back one point because it doesn’t smell of anything much but its a 9/10. Honestly.
